Her eyes seemed to peek through the crystal blue waters and remain still in the wobbling ocean. They served as a point of reference as he tried to swim through the molasses of liquid around him. Struggling against the currents, Baku reached out a final time, but this time his tired fingers hit muddy sand beneath him. A few minutes more and he was pulling himself onto a sandy beach. He raised his head not to see the warm glow of a morning or the haunting comfort of moonlight. Instead, he saw her face looking back down at him. Her dark red hair, almost black with ocean water wetness, framing her pale skin. Her glass green eyes peering out from the oval cups they sat in. Baku blinked, unsure of what he was seeing, but as he crawled to his knees, he closed his eyes to rub them. On looking back to the vision before him, he saw only the jungle's edge. Against his feet, against his back, raging waves crashed. She had guided him safely to the shore. Hirae. No... no. Alice.
